RHENAC GreenTec AG, based in Hennef/Germany, manufacturer of customised special solutions for LED plant lighting systems, especially for sports arenas, and RA Turf Lighting Solutions AS, (TLS) manufacturer of mobile turf lighting and turf management systems from Stavanger/Norway, today announce their merger.
Both companies have been competitors in the market to date and are pursuing the same growth targets. The merger of the two companies will create a strong global player in this specialised market segment.
In collaboration with the Technical University of Munich, RHENAC GreenTec AG has developed turf lighting systems that are specially designed for the growth and regeneration of sports turf. It markets this Complete Light Spectrum (CLS) technology under the RHENAC Sports LED brand. The collaboration with the Technical University of Munich has also resulted in a special sensor technology that enables RHENAC’s systems and applications to record and manage the quality parameters of sports turf at the highest level. TLS has a complete range of mobile lighting systems and turf management software that allows turf managers to keep an eye on all requirements relating to sports turf regeneration at all times.
RHENAC developed and installed the largest turf lighting system in the world to date at the Veltins Arena (Schalke 04) and the turf lighting system under the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid (Real Madrid). RHENAC holds patents for these systems. TLS has already rented and sold its mobile systems to more than 100 customers around the world and has an active global service for advice and maintenance. TLS has also participated in developing Turfpal, a turf management software in which RHENAC’s analysis sensors can be embedded.
The switch from conventional gas discharge lamps to sustainable LED lighting technology and the increase in multifunctional arenas with special requirements for year-round turf growth have led to a rapidly growing demand for LED-based turf lighting systems in recent years.
